Waiting Patiently...

So, the book debuted last week and I wanted to thank those of you who have purchased it! The main thing I wanted has finally come true: people are giving the book a chance! Of course, as with any self-published book, there are a few grammatical errors I accidentally overlooked. If you've ever edited anything over ten pages long you know exactly what I'm going through. You look through it so many times that the text becomes memorized and you absentmindedly gloss over mistakes you wouldn't have otherwise. Anyways, I digress. Project Lullaby is doing well in popularity for the ones that have purchased it. It seems that it's a difficult book to put down.

The only problem I'm having thus far is actually getting it promoted. It's hard when you're a new author and an indie author at that. One of these days, I know it's going to be a sensation! Until then, I'm resolved to just wait patiently.

I'm working on getting Project Lullaby in print format for those of you who are like me and want an actual physical book in your hands. I'm hoping to get it out by the middle of next year - maybe before then. I'll let you know via this blog and Facebook (www.facebook.com/TLOnyx).

The novel is available on Amazon for $4.99 and on Smashwords for $5.99 (only more expensive due to the fact that you will own all of the versions from one purchase, including PDF format).

For those of you who are still on the fence about buying the book, below are some reviews from real readers and they can be found on Amazon.com and Facebook:

I was very impressed with this debut novel from T.L. Onyx. The deeper I got into the book, the more secrets that were revealed. The possibilities are mind boggling, I certainly hope this is complete fiction or I might not ever leave my house again! The author took me on a ride that I will not soon forget. I was impressed by the knowledge and skills of Debra and Sizer, but I wouldn't want to have to go through what they did to achieve it. I was challenged to decide how I felt about them. On one side what they did was unacceptable, but on the other hand, what was done to them was unacceptable. Who's at fault here? How many have to suffer for the choices that were made? How do you not fall in love with a victim? I absolutely fell in love with the support characters, the residents of Paramount. I could feel their love and support for each other, and the dialogue and witty banter between them was fun too. Trust me, you want to read this book. It will open your mind to new possibilities and your heart as well.

Project Lullaby Synopses!

So, I've looked back through my folders and found some if the synopses that a few of my beta readers wrote for me. Check them out!

Project Lullaby Synopsis by Beta Reader, 1P10:

“What is Project Lullaby? How did the secret, experimental program that threatened so many lives remain undiscovered for so long?

Two women escaped the prison like facility, but they can’t escape their memories. They can’t forget what they suffered at the hands of the enforcer, or the lessons they had to learn in order to survive.

Can Sizer continue to remain hidden among the residents of the sleepy town of Paramount, or must she flee again to protect those that she has grown to love?

Debra is a product of her training. She has learned to keep her feelings buried and to complete her mission “no matter what”. Her strength and agility has won her the title of Darwin. Now she must use those same skills to avoid capture while she gathers enough evidence to expose what really happened during Project Lullaby…”

Project Lullaby Synopsis by Beta Reader, 4D2144:

“Deception, corruption, murder, romance, and suspense will captivate your mind as two different women set out to begin a new life while seeking to discontinue the cycle of the Project Lullaby program.”

Project Lullaby Synopsis by Beta Reader, 1R5211:

“Project Lullaby sheds light on an extremely distrubing training program. Sizer and Debra had the misfortune of growning up in a facility and have learned to cope in the outside world. One seks revenge and justice while the other longs to forget it all.”

Project Lullaby Synopsis by Beta Reader, 1A1822:

“A killer walks among us. Raged by a corporate conspiracy, the assassin within Debra becons with the fruitful temptation of revenge. Living in a world without boundaries, the lone murderess sets out to even a score and prevent future chaos caused by a nefarious clan known as the Left Group.

A second killer, over whelmed with the same predicament, takes a different path. Sizer, plagued by her bloody past, tries to live an inconspicuous life among the citizens in the sleepy town of Paramount. However, just when her recently-gained existence is starting to make sense, she learns of Debra’s trieal and her past comes back to haunt her. Trapped between making a new life and fighting her old one, Sizer collides into one situation after the next before settling on a last resort.

Both women have a sordid history drowned in secrets, lies, and corpses. Two women raised the same, see life so differently. In exposing herself, Debra gains alliances and bonds, whereas Sizer would only gain scrutiny and doubt. Join these two women as tensions rise and knowledge of an experimental program that threatens countless numbers of lives comes to the surface – a program, most appropriately deemed, Project Lullaby.”

Project Lullaby Book Cover Debut

So excited about this! After just one day, the brilliant eCover designer, Brandi Doane, has helped bring my book to life by turning my ideas into a cover! Now that I have it, I was able to get promotional cards made and I'm happy to say that I will have them before the end of next week. It's all coming together and it's finally happening!

A Little More Information...

I was a very talkative young woman growing up. Being in school all day where you weren't  allowed to talk freely left me with pent up energy that needed to be let out or I would burst. I'd go home, and tell my mom what was on my mind, then wait patiently to tell my dad. Dad's humorous response would be, "Why don't you write a book about it?!" Little did he know, I always took him a bit too seriously. I wrote my first full length novel at the age of 11.

Sixteen years later, I'm ready to take a leap and publish one of my series! Project Lullaby is a book that's been finished for years and read by many friends of mine and my mom's. (Shout out to my mom, Debra - drafts and ideas were always run through her!)

Okay, so...what's it about? I know you're all dying to know! Truth is, I haven't really written a synopsis yet, but I'll give you something.

Project Lullaby is a wittingly, mystery-filled, realistic fiction novel about two former child-soldiers turned assassins. One, is trying to fit into society like a regular person while the other is committing random murders...or at least they seem random. Little does anyone know (besides the other assassin), the vigilante has a method to her madness.

If you like psychology, there's a lot in there, easy to catch on to. If you like twists, turns, and culs-de-sac (yes, you read that correctly, coincidentally that is the way you pronounce the plural form!), there's tons of that in the novel. If you're a hopeless romantic - got some of that for you too. If you're a person who likes crime, well...dive in!

Finally getting published!

For those of you who don't know me, I've been doing the "submitting my manuscript" thing for years. After two funky approvals and several, "thank you, but no thanks" I have settled on self publishing. Apparently, Amazon.com has a great program for people like me and I am going to take advantage of it.

I've never done a blog before and if any of you are actually blog aficionados and are used to this kind of thing - please don't burn me in effigy if I screw this up.

So...after much ado, I'm hoping to reveal my first novel, Project Lullaby on November 12, 2013. Not sure if that date is really going to work out - it could be earlier than that - but I think it's a good date and gives me time for all of you to spread the word for me.

On to the book, the reason you most likely tuned into this blog. Project Lullaby is book one of a four part series, a series I've been painstakingly editing and rewriting since 2008. And before you ask, no - it isn't a children's book. I like to think of it as a psychological thriller, but after recently analyzing it...again...it seems to be falling under the crime genre or, more to my liking, American Noir. I am ABSOLUTELY horrible at writing synopses. If you've read my book, feel free to chime in on what it is about. Tune into Facebook and this wayward blog for the next installment to get that lovely description!

Thanks for reading, and I hope to become part of your bookshelf in the near future.

(Oh, and feel free to comment!)
